About Us
The traditional winery was founded in 1833 by pharmacist and inventor Friedrich Koch and successfully continued by his son Carl Koch, mayor of Oppenheim; by the end of the 19th century, it reached its current size. It has remained in family ownership ever since and is now run by the seventh generation – since 2009 under Paul Berkes. The 12 hectares of vineyards, predominantly located on the slopes above Oppenheim and Dienheim, have been organically farmed since 2010. Operations manager Agustin Novoa pursues a restrained winemaking philosophy, allowing the wine space to develop. Thus, the story of this Rheinhessen winery continues as a narrative of care, dedication, and the magic of wine.

Paul Berkes: A Seventh-Generation Vintner Driven by Passion
Paul Berkes is the heart of our winery and represents its seventh generation. In 2009, he inherited the winery from his uncle and has since continued the family tradition with immense dedication and deep passion. Paul is involved in every single process of wine production—from nurturing our vines in the vineyard to meticulous winemaking in the cellar. He also handles the daily tasks on the estate with great commitment to ensure the quality and character of our wines.ine stets zu gewährleisten.

Our vineyard team is the starting point for everything we do. With over 25 years of experience on our land, Abdullah Celik is a vital pillar. The fact that our harvest helpers are the same every year makes them a very important part of the CK team and ensures the consistently high quality of our wines.
Agustin G. Novoa - Our Cellar Master & Operations Manager
Argentinian cellar master Agustin G. Novoa has elevated the winery to a new level since joining in 2018. With international experience from New Zealand, Argentina, Italy, and England, he's responsible not only for winemaking but also for managing the entire operation. Under his leadership, Carl Koch has already won numerous national and international awards, further solidifying its position as a top winery.
